Vicksburg High School football player JD Kelly has signed a scholarship to play for Alcorn State University.

Kelly, who plays defensive back for the Gators, made the announcement over social media on Wednesday.

“JD is a young man that wants to be at Alcorn State University,” ASU Head Coach Fred McNair said. “He comes from a wonderful high school that has great coaches and football pedigree. This is a huge addition to our program.”

Kelly was a shutdown defensive back for the Gators in the 2022 season where he grabbed 26 tackles and seven pass deflections. He also helped VHS to a 10-3 record under Head Coach Todd McDaniel.

VDN will catch up with Kelly at his signing day celebration in February.
