JSU athlete becomes first to sign endorsement deal under new NCAA ruling

Jackson State football player Antwan Owens has become the first student-athlete to sign an endorsement deal after the NCAA board of directors suspended rules which prevented athletes from doing so.

In a midnight ceremony in NYC, he inked with Three Kings Grooming, a black-owned hair product shop.

On Thursday, Owens signed a deal with 3 Kings Grooming, becoming the first student-athlete to take advantage of the NCAA’s new ruling.
“Somebody pinch me!” Owens told Sports Illustrated. “This is something that’s going to be life changing, generationally life changing.”
Owens is a Georgia Tech transfer that will be playing under Deion Sanders this fall at JSU.
