Warren Central High football player Kentrick Thompson won the Golden Helmet MVP Award on Friday.

Thompson was given the award at the school’s athletic banquet for his hard work and dedication throughout the 2020-2021 football season.

The Golden Helmet Award is given to the best overall player on the team and Thompson proved that he deserved it through his excellent play.

Thompson played quarterback for the Vikings, where he led the team to a 9-3 record under head coach Josh Morgan. He threw for 835 passing yards and finished with a total of 12 touchdowns and rushing for over 500 yards.

The Vikings managed to make it to the second round of the playoffs under Thompson’s leadership where he made sure his time came out on top for most of the season.

Thompson will soon be playing football for Mississippi Delta Community College.
