Local AKAs providing snacks for children as one of their powerful initiatives

The Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has launched its Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP), providing weekend and holiday snacks for qualifying children.

The sorority has partnered with the Vicksburg-Warren School District, providing 101 power packs a week. To date, they have packed and distributed 707 packs.

“This is one of the most ambitious programs falling under the ‘Empower Our Family’ initiative,” said Michele Fisher. “The overall goal is to fight childhood hunger.”

The AKAs deliver to Warren Central Intermediate every Thursday between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.The program has been active since February 2023 and will end its first cycle in May 2024.
