Vicksburg High School will host baseball tryouts Sep. 18-20, but this year offers something special.

This year’s tryouts will be very different as major league scouts will be in attendance to evaluate the athletes who wish to be part of the Gator baseball program.

“The scouts will be there to talk the players, encourage them and explain to them on what it takes to get to the next level”, VHS Head Coach Kent Willis said. “Baseball has changed and they need an understanding of everything so that they can strive in certain areas.”

Pre-tryouts will be on that Monday, followed by officiall tryouts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Willis was officially hired over the summer and is already making plans for VHS to get the proper training and exposure as possible.

“We just need to work hard, do what we do and love each other,” Willis added.

The final decision on who will get selected for the team will be made by the VHS baseball staff.

More information on tryouts can be found on the flyer below:
