Man wanted for attempted murder of a Louisiana State Police trooper

Erroll Johnson, 31, is wanted in Louisiana for the attempted murder of a trooper with the Louisiana State Police.

The trooper attempted to stop a 2020 Toyota RAV4 SUV for a traffic violation early Sunday morning just after midnight in Ouachita Parish, KNOE reports. Johnson, who was driving the vehicle, refused to stop.

After the trooper pursued Johnson a short distance, he stopped the SUV and got out with a firearm.

Johnson and the trooper exchanged gunfire, during which a passenger in the SUV sustained minor injuries. Johnson escaped on foot and is at large.

His passenger was transported to a hospital.

Johnson, who is reportedly from West Monroe, is considered armed and dangerous.
