Mississippi man sentenced to 40 years for the murder of a six-week-old baby

A Gulfport, Mississippi man has been sentenced for his role in the death of a six-week-old baby.

27-year-old Kendall Pritchett Sr. plead guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The incident occurred on May 3, 2020 where the Gulfport PD responded to Garden Park Hospital about a deceased child. It was determined that the child died from complications from a thermal burn injury.

Pritchett stated the he and the child’s mother were both under the influence of drugs at the time of the baby’s death. He also stated that the baby was burned during a bath.
