Vicksburg High School softball team took a tough 6-0 loss to New Hope on Friday in game one.

New Hope went up 2-0 after a RBI by Taylor Brownlee and a double by Zoe Goodman.

As VHS struggled at bat, NH grabbed three more runs in the second to go up 5-0.

Lili Kistler would retire three straight batters in the third as both teams failed to get a run.

The Missy Gators continued to contain New Hope in the fourth by not allowing them to get a run score. Amari Johnson got a hit for VHS in the fourth inning with the score remaining at 5-0.

Brownlee got a RBI in the sixth to push the lead to 6-0.

Kellisia Walker stepped up in the seventh for VHS by getting a hit along with Johnson who got a double.

Although the Missy Gators made some key stops late in the game, it wouldn’t be enough to take down New Hope.

A rematch between the two is scheduled for Saturday.
