Missy Gators win their third straight district championship

Vicksburg High School girl’s basketball team are now the Region 4 5A district champions after defeating Forest Hill 66-43.

The Missy Gators took a quick 12-4 lead by the end of the first quarter.

By halftime, VHS was up 27-13 and kept the lead throughout the rest of the game.

By the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Missy Gators was up 42-31 and had no plans of slowing down.

Destini Sims led the way by scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds and four steals. Layla Carter scored 10 points and six rebounds. Ja’Na Colenburg got in double digits as well by putting up 11 points. Kierra James scored nine with six rebounds. Kalia Bland, Rodrianna Hall and Janiah Caples all had four points on the night.
