Vicksburg native Marvin Martin Jr. has now received the University l South Alabama’s Male Perseverance Award.

Martin was hospitalized in 2022 after suffering a serious neck injury at football practice that left him in a state of paralysis. He would eventually beat the odds with the help of surgeries and physical therapy and he is now back on his feet and standing tall.

The Male Perseverance Award is given to those who have demonstrated ongoing determination and persistence while overcoming challenges in their day-to-day lives.

Martin is a graduate of Vicksburg High School where he played under head coach Tim Hughes before moving to Texas.
