“If it wasn’t for God this moment would have never happened so I would like to thank God first. I am truly blessed,” Godfrey said in the video. “Next I would like to thank my family for supporting me and providing for me and pushing me in the right direction. I would also like to thank all of my coaches, trainers and mentors from California, Ohio and Florida. I want to say thank you to all of the schools for recruiting me.
“After all of the hard work, early mornings, late nights, long considerations, tears of joy, long conversations, zoom meetings, virtual tours and campus visits, I finally made my decision. I will be attending Mississippi State University.”
ESPN ranks Godfrey the No. 93 player overall in the 2021 class with a four-star label. She averaged 12.1 points per game last season along with 3.8 steals and 3.6 assists for Tampa Bay Tech High School and will graduate in 2021.
Penson became the Bulldogs head coach in April, inheriting a team that has been successful in the last few years. By gaining players such as Godfrey, the Bulldogs should be able to keep their successful seasons going under Penson’s leadership.
