One shot dead at Circle K

One person is dead after being shot at Circle K, 4150 Washington Street in Vicksburg.

A man is dead after being shot at Circle K at 4150 Washington Street in Vicksburg. One person was taken into custody at the scene and another was taken to the police department.

The call was dispatched at 2:19 a.m. with officers arriving on the scene almost immediately. One person was taken into custody by the arriving units.

According to Deputy Chief Mike Bryant, “On Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2:19 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Circle K convenience store at 4150 Washington Street in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, the officers found Shirray Harris, 46, of Vicksburg lying in the parking lot. Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey pronounced him dead at the scene. Two subjects have been taken in for questioning concerning this incident. Early indications are that this began as a physical altercation that escalated to gun violence.

This investigation is ongoing, and more information will be made available whenever possible.”

Fire Medic 40 attended to the injured party and called for AirCare but canceled them soon thereafter. Engine 7 along with a bevy of law enforcement including Chief Penny Jones were at the scene.

Coroner Doug Huskey arrived at the scene to transport the body to the crime lab.

This is the second time in two weeks that an argument in Vicksburg escalated to someone being shot and killed. In both instances, the shooters were apprehended.
