PCA defeats Vicksburg 14-2 on Wednesday

Porter’s Chapel Academy baseball team grabbed a big 14-2 win over Vicksburg High on Wednesday.

“We’ve been looking for that kind of performance all year because they been up and down a few times and that’s the first time the starting nine came to the field with a good mentality and doing the small things made a big difference in the game,” PCA head coach Paul Ashley said.

Both teams got on the board from a balk before PCA got things rolling in the third inning.

Big hits by Gage Palmer, Zach Ashley, and Taylor Labarre forced all the basses to be full that led to John Wyatt Massey’s big hit where all three runners scored with the Eagles going up 4-1.

Massey eventually got a score after a line drive by Chase Hearn.

The Eagles would eventually extend their lead to 7-1 by the beginning of the sixth inning.

Hearn singled again in the sixth inning that got PCA another score as the the Eagles had a 8-1 lead heading into the seventh.

Hearn and Ashley each had four hits on the night while Labarre brought in three.

Tyler Carter led VHS with two hits and one RBI.

Palmer, Labarre, Massey, and Ashley  all got major hits in the final inning that pushed the score to 14-2.

Kaleb Doss and Kealon Bass pitched for VHS as they combined for four strikeouts.
