The Porter’s Chapel Academy girls basketball team won its home opener against Franklin Academy Thursday night in a big 51-42 victory.

The Lady Eagles controlled the ball most of the night and had a good 36-18 lead by halftime.

Yakia Burns led the Eagles in points with 32 and 11 rebounds on the night. Teammate Zy Smith pitched in with 14 points to help the Eagles secure the victory that brought their record to 2-1.

“I felt like I performed good tonight by penetrating the gaps and communicating on defense to help the team,” Burns said.

PCA will face Franklin Academy again Tuesday but they will travel this time in hopes of bringing home another win for the Eagles.
