Porter’s Chapel Academy girl’s basketball team popped their season off on Tuesday with a 58-34 win over Sharkey-Issaquena Academy.

“I think we did good and we played as a team and I can see us going far this year,” Tiara Sims said.

The Lady Eagle took a quick control of things in the first quarter with shots coming from Tiara Sims, Anjel Walton, and Sophie Masterson as they took a 16-7 lead.

The Lady Eagles came out of halftime still on fire as Marley Bufkin knocked a 3-pointer. SIA continued to be no problem for PCA as they continued to put a beating in the Lady Confederates as they led by over 30 points.

The final quarter of play was no different for PCA with Mia Abdo and Hannah Henderson knocking down shots as PCA secured the easy win.

Sims led with 32 points and four rebounds. Masterson added 11 on the board for PCA with four blocks while Walton put up nine points with four steals.

“We are shorthanded right now with our roster but I think we played well for our season opener but we didn’t get in foul trouble so that’s a good thing,” Head Coach Casey Fisher said.

PCA will play again next Tuesday when they travel to Discovery Christian.
