Sally Jeanette Emfinger Hambright, 1944 – 2022
Sally Jeanette Emfinger Hambright passed away Friday, Mar. 11 after a two year battle with cancer. Her journey came to a peaceful ending next to her husband, Estrell (Red) Hambright, in their home of 62 years. Sally was born to Ernest A. Emfinger Sr. and Carrie Irene Raney Emfinger on July 19, 1944 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. After the passing of her mother, Sally was raised by her paternal grandparents, James (Jim) Emfinger and Annie Bell Price Emfinger. She attended Culkin Academy in elementary and Paramount High School in California. Sally was forever 29 and beautiful. She held love in her heart for everyone she encountered. She was full of grace and humor. On July 25, 1959, Sally married her lifelong partner and soul mate, Estrell (Red) Hambright. In the years they shared together, there was never a dull moment. Their relationship was built on laughter, love and music. It was the start of the next four generations, which became her biggest passion and accomplishments in life.
Sally is survived by her husband, Estrell (Red) Hambright; four children, Anna Jones (Bill), Wayne Hambright, Linda Johnson (Marion/Bo) and Julie Baxely (Bill); seven grandchildren, Karie Lynch (Wayne), Catherine Roy (Josh), Tabatha Keen (Jay), Dustin Jones (Shelley), Corey Jones (Corrie), Joseph Stubbs (Anna) and Justin Baxley (Heather); eighteen great grandchildren, Caetlyn Roy (Johnathan Brown), Landen Johnson, Preston Lynch, Dalton Roy, Maddox Lynch, Macie Jones, Jaxin and Kamdyn Fulgham, Paxton Lynch, Carson Jones, Kaydence Stubbs, Tanner Jones, Kyla Baxley, Clay Jones, Harper Jones, Lainey Baxley, Cyrus and Clark Stubbs; one great great grandson, John Ridge Brown; four sisters, Louise Prudhome, Maggie Heddricks, Janice Prescott and Patricia Emfinger; and one brother, James (Bubba) Emfinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest A. Emfinger Sr. and Carrie Irene Raney Emfinger; paternal grandparents, James (Jim) Emfinger and Annie Bell Price Emfinger; maternal grandparents, Sam Frances Raney and Alma Pettway Raney; four sisters Brenda Emfinger, Barbara (Doodle) McKay, Debbie Floyd and Ernestine Miller; and one brother, Ernest A. Jr. Emfinger.
In celebration of Sally’s life, a visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 16, at Gleenwood Funeral Home, 145 US-80, Vicksburg, Mississippi. Services will begin at noon, following the visitation. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers include Dalton Roy, Preston Lynch, Maddox Lynch, Dustin Jones, Corey Jones, Joseph Stubbs, Justin Baxley and Landen Johnson.
