On Thursday, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace gave updates on several ongoing and unrelated cases within the county.

Carjacking Update

Sheriff Pace announced a second arrest relating to the carjacking at Love’s Truck Stop earlier this month.

“This is an individual the City of Vicksburg had already arrested,” said Sheriff Pace. “Our case came together.”

Xavier Pittman, 15, surrendered to the Vicksburg Police Department on Monday with his attorney. For the city charges, Pittman was given a $150,000 bond.

County charges against Pittman are armed carjacking, and conspiracy to receive or possess stolen property.

Judge Crevitt in Warren County Justice Court has ordered Pittman held without bond.

Earlier this month, Cameron Donnell Grayer, 18, of Jackson, was arrested and also faced separate city and county charges. Grayer was given a $150,000 bond by Judge Angela Carpenter in Municipal Court on Thursday, Oct. 13, for the city charges. Grayer received an additional $150,000 bond from Judge James Jefferson for the county charges of armed carjacking, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to possess stolen property.

Statutory Rape

Sheriff Pace states that two arrests have been made in a case of statutory rape involving a child under the age of 14. The investigation began on Oct. 6.

Devonte Allen, of Vicksburg, was arrested and charged with statutory rape of a child under the age of 14. Additionally, Alisha Price was arrested and charged with hindering prosecution.

Price was given a $15,000 bond and has since posted. Allen was given a $50,000 bond.

“When law enforcement is conducting a criminal investigation and you are harboring knowledge or information of that case and are deliberately withholding that information from law enforcement or are in any way assisting or aiding the primary suspect, you can, and in our case, you will be charged with hindering prosecution,” said Sheriff Pace.

Child Molestation

Warren County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Oct. 14 involving the molestation of a child. One arrest was made on Oct. 25.

On Thursday, Sheriff Pace announced that Justin Melzer, of Warren County, was taken into custody and charged.

Sheriff Pace did not offer details surrounding this case but stated Melzer appeared in Justice Court and was given a $75,000 bond by Judge Crevitt.

Grand Jury

All of the above cases are to be presented to the next term of the Warren County Grand Jury which is scheduled to convene in January.
