St. Aloysius girls basketball player Taylor Chewning has been named the Flashes Most Valuable Player.

The MVP Award was announced over the weekend on Facebook by Vicksburg Catholic School which was unable to hold an athletic banquet due to COVID-19.

Chewning, a junior, has led St. Aloysius on the court last season becoming a the key player on the team. She led the Flashes in points, rebounds and assists.

Averaging 7.7 points per game, 7.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, Chewning led the Flashes to some big victories last season, including defeating Tallulah Academy and Park Place Christian where Chewning was the star player.

The Flashes roster was loaded with a young athletes last season, which resulted in a 5-17 record. Next season, the team will be returning players with experience such as Chewning, which should help them turn things around.
