The Jazz Singer was the first ever “talkie.” Needless to say, things would never be the same. A silent film called “Cupid Angling” premiered in 1918. It is widely accepted as the first feature-length film to be filmed in color. But the process of filming in color would not be perfected until 1939 and the first two movies to use the new technology, aptly titled “Technicolor,” were The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind. So… now we’ve got home video cameras that capture magnificent images in extraordinary detail. Those movies are stored on a card that is – in some cases – smaller than your pinky nail. But it was 122 years ago today that what we now take for granted was a brand new invention.]]]]> ]]>
