‘Tiger King’ Joe Exotic transferred for cancer treatment
Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, the former zookeeper that starred in Netflix’s “Tiger King,” has been transferred to a federal medical facility in North Carolina to begin cancer treatment.
Maldonado-Passage is currently serving a 22 year sentence for orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot to kill Carole Baskin.
Earlier this month, the 58-year-old announced that a prostate biopsy confirmed that he had an aggressive cancer saying “Carole will have a party over this”.

In a handwritten letter dated Oct. 27, the Tiger King said he was not looking for pity but that he would like to be released from prison so that he can address the diagnosis surrounded by loved ones.
“What I need is the world to be my voice to be released,” he wrote. “They have the proof I did not do this and there is no reason for the US Attorney to drag this out so I can go home and get treatment on my own and enjoy what life I have left with my loved ones.”
Saturday, his attorney tweeted about the transfer to a facility with more advanced cancer treatments.
During the late hours of November 16 or early morning hours of November 17, 2021, Joe was taken out of his cell and put on a private plane and transferred from the Ft. Worth Federal Medical Center to the Butner Federal Medical Center to being treatment of his prostate cancer.
