Tuesday’s homicide victim identified

Tuesday night’s homicide victim has been identified.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey identified the deceased as 22-year-old Preston Wilson Jr.

Wilson was shot and killed on Harrison at Cherry Street last night by someone driving a black SUV. Wilson’s name was called out by the shooter just shortly before shots were fired.

VPD made a statement about Tuesday’s incident:

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 11:02pm officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cherry and Harrison Streets in reference to a shooting.  When they arrived, the officers found the victim, Preston Wilson, Jr., 22, of Vicksburg suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.

This investigation is continuing, and more information will be released when available.
