Police do not take children under 12-years-old into custody, charge or arrest them, Vicksburg Police Capt. Mike Bryant said this afternoon.
Officers did apprehend the boys, and they were turned over to their parents, and the stolen money was returned.
From here, the case is turned over to the Warren County Youth Court, which will investigate to determine the best course of action for the boys going forward. Recommended actions may include counseling and family intervention, if necessary.
“It’s a rehabilitative process,” said Youth Court Judge Marcie Southerland, adding, “We work case by case.”
The two boys are 8 and 10 years old.

Vicksburg Police officers have apprehended two boys, aged 8 and 10 9, in custody for a snatch-and-grab robbery from Divine Donuts at 1405 Clay St.
The boys grabbed a donation jar from a non-profit organization from the store’s counter around 4 p.m. today and ran to a residence on Second North Street, according to initial reports.
When police arrived at that house, the boys ran to First North and Grove streets with the police in pursuit on foot.
Police have apprehended both boys. in custody and may charge them with strong-arm robbery.
For adults, the crime carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
