The effort to find a man who has likely drowned continues in the Mississippi River, according to Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries representative Adam Einck.

LDWF agents are searching for a missing 62-year-old man in the river near St. Joseph, Louisiana, in Tensas Parish.

Agents were alerted about a boating incident July 3 around 6 p.m. They rescued a stranded 52-year-old woman about an hour later on the banks of the river.

The couple, from Bogue Chito, Mississippi, reportedly launched the boat near Grand Gulf in Claiborne County Friday afternoon. They were traveling upriver when the 15- or 16-foot vessel with hand tiller steering made a hard turn ejecting them both into the water. The woman was able to make it to shore and the man was not.

Agents searched until dark last night and resumed their search at first light Saturday morning.

Other agencies including the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks are involved in the search.
