Utica natives Elijah Moncure and J’Vontae Noel signed athletic scholarships on Wednesday to Alcorn State University for track and field.

The two seniors had the signing ceremony at Raymond High School where they were a part of the Rangers successful program.

Noel participated in the 110 hurdles, triple jump, and long jump at Raymond and is happy he chose the Braves as his next destination.

“Coach Joseph is dedicated to helping us grow and I want to do that at a HBCU,” Noel said.

Moncure competed in the 400 m, 4X4, 4X2, and long jump this season.  where he shined in every meet for the Rangers.

Both athletes were a big part of their team’s success, and they will have their whole town rooting for them as they embark on this new chapter.
