Vicksburg High School brought home a district championship on Friday after a 16-0 win over Callaway.

“It’s kinda bittersweet because we want VHS to be known for competitive baseball, and we pray that we’re the start of that,” VHS Head Coach Antonio Calvin said. “It’s really about the kids, and we’re excited about the direction they’re going in and finally being able to sustain success.”

The Gators quickly got on the board from a single by Rashad McCroy, followed by Mincer Minor IV running in from an error.

VHS was up 11-0 by the end of the first inning, with multiple steals and hits.

McCroy led with four RBIs, and Harrigill brought in three. Braylon Green, Connor Harrigill, Rashad McCroy, and Kealon Bass had two hits.

Terrance Johnson and Decedric Brown each got a hit.

Chris Green struck out two batters on the night, and Bass struck out one.

The Gators now have an overall 16-6 record and remain undefeated (10-0) in region 4-5A.
