VHS finishes summer basketball as the Pre National Tune Up Tournament Champions with a 27-1 record

The Vicksburg High School boy’s basketball team are now the Pre Nationals Tune Up Tournament Champions after defeating P.U.S.H Elite and Flight Squad on Sunday.

After defeating Flight Squad 55-45, VHS quickly blew out Push Elite 70-46 to end the tournament with a 5-0 record.

Davian Willams had a outstanding performance by putting up 24 points in the win while Malik Franklin added 14 on the board. Kealon Bass also came in clutch with 15 points to help VHS secure the victory along with Markel Derby who added 13.

VHS went 27-1 this summer under Head Coach Kelvin Carter who is preparing the team for their upcoming season later on this year.

“We had an awesome summer where we really put the time in to work and get better practice after practice and game after game,” Head Coach Kelvin Carter said. “I pray that this will carry over into the upcoming season.”
