VHS ninth grade girl’s basketball team defeated WC 27-19 on Thursday

Vicksburg High School’s ninth-grade girl’s basketball team defeated Warren Central 27-19 on Thursday in the first round of the Little Six Tournament.

Jordan Powell and Jordan Grace got VHS on the board early as they took a 5-4 lead. After shots by A. Jenkins and A. Wilson in the second quarter, WC grabbed a 10-9 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was the most profitable for the Missy Gators as Powell hit a 3-pointer along with Saudia Stewart who made a couple of shots.

With Grace popping a 3-pointer in the final quarter, VHS maintained their lead with Powell leading with 11 points on the night. Grace ended the night with seven points. Stewart and Jada Erwin both finished with three points.

Jenkins led WC with nine points while Wilson and K.Lewis both had three.
