Vicksburg natives Shaw and Lumpkin were key players for JSU defense this season

Vicksburg natives Keonte Lumpkin and Alexander Shaw both played huge roles in Jackson State University football team’s success this season under head coach Deion Sanders.
Lumpkin, a former Warren Central standout, starred as linebacker for the Tigers in the spring where he was a part of a tough defense. He finished with a total of 18 tackles and led the Tigers defense in the spring game against Southern.
Shaw, another former WC star, played defensive back for JSU as he finished with 16 tackles. He also came up with one interception and three pass deflections.
Both players managed to have games where they had double digit tackles while the Tigers finished with a 4-3 spring record.
