Vicksburg PD incident reports: Rash of auto burglaries continue

The rash of auto burglaries in Vicksburg continued last weekend as Vicksburg Police officers responded to four separate incidents from Friday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 9. In three of the break ins, the thieves stole handguns.

Officers also responded to one call of a stolen vehicle and three calls reporting shots fired. Police did not find any evidence of suspicious activity at any of the shots-fired calls

Details of the incidents:

On Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:02 a.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Sherwood Drive in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported someone took her 2001 Chevrolet Silverado.

Auto Burglaries

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Main Street on Friday, Feb. 7, at 11:56 a.m. where the complainant stated that someone broke into a 2007 Cadillac Escalade and stole a purse containing cash, credit and debit cards, checkbooks and a driver’s license.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4:21 a.m. officer responded to Ameristar Casino, 4116 Washington St., where the victim stated that someone went into a GMC Sierra truck and stole a Glock 17 9mm handgun.

On Saturday at 9:13 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle where the complainant reported someone broke into a 2008 Ford Fusion and stole a Glock 9mm handgun.

On Sunday, Feb. 9, at 5:26 p.m. officers responded to the 2900 block of Park Avenue where the victim stated that someone stole a .380 Jimenez handgun from the center console of a 2010 Chrysler 300.

Shots Fired

Two shots-fired calls came in on Saturday, Feb. 8. The first, at 12:51 a.m., officers responded to Locust and Jefferson Street.

The second, at 11:33 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Alfred Drive. This was the same area where two suspects were arrested earlier in the evening for a shooting on Irene Drive. Officers circulated the area saw no evidence of shots fired.

A third call came in on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 4:15 a.m. from Fayette Street.
