Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department stopped what could have been a residential burglary Friday morning with the help of an alert resident.

The resident called 911 around 8 a.m. when he saw two suspicious characters entering a residence at 2608 Hannah Avenue.

When the officers arrived, they found the would-be burglars inside the house, said Police Chief Milton Moore. The homeowner, who was not in the residence at the time, confirmed the two had no business in the house and will be pressing charges.

The two alleged burglars are in police custody.
