The Salvation Army in Vicksburg is collecting school supplies to fill 300 donated backpacks.

Molina Healthcare of Mississippi donated the backpacks, provided with safety instructions and hand sanitizers, WLBT reports.

Once filled with school supplies, they will be distributed to school children in the Vicksburg and Warren County area.

“With such uncertainty during the COVID-19 crisis, we are pleased to offer children a leg up on starting school safely,” Major Janna Torgerson of the Salvation Army told WLBT. “The backpacks will be filled with all the back to school materials needed to get the school year off to a grand start.”

The Salvation Army Vicksburg is located at 530 Mission 66. Call 601-456-4444 to find out their specific needs.
