The final night of the Miss Mississippi preliminaries saw Vicksburg’s own Miss Leaf River Valley Charity Lockridge win the talent competition while Miss Midtown Pointe Connor Dowdell earned a preliminary title for her red carpet performance.

Lockridge, a Vicksburg native and fourth year contestant, was emotional as she was announced the winner of the preliminary title.

In tonight’s final round, the top ten contestants will compete again across all phases of the competition to determine who will be crowned the next Miss Mississippi.

The Miss Mississippi pageant began in 1934 and has been held in Vicksburg since 1958.  The contest provides more money than any other scholarship pageant in the Miss America Organization.
