Warrants issued for Jacques shooting incident
Chief Penny Jones has announced that warrants have been issued for the individuals believed to be responsible for the shooting in the parking lot of Jacques in the early morning hours of May 6, 2023.
According to Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones, the shooters have been identified and warrants have been issued.
“It happened in the parking lot, not inside the club at all, and I’m glad it didn’t escalate further,” said Chief Jones. “Due to the proactive response of the security, they were able to prevent it from escalating.”
The four individuals who were shot were all in the same area of the parking lot.
“They were in the parking lot, all in close proximity to each other when it occurred,” said Jones.
One report suggested that the police were present at the scene but took no action. Chief Jones replied, “The Vicksburg Police Department responded. We reviewed the CAD records, and it took less than 3 minutes for the other officers to arrive. There was one officer already in the vicinity, present in the parking lot. However, the parking lot is quite extensive, and we have discussed the possibility of obtaining a golf cart as it is challenging for people to traverse on foot.”
The Chief further explained, “The officer, despite parking in the vicinity, still needed to reach the location of the scuffle or incident. By the time he could approach them, other officers had already arrived and were searching for their exact whereabouts in the parking lot.”
Angela Neilson, the manager at Jacques, declined to be interviewed for this report.
