Circuit Court Judge Toni Terrett handed Zane Austin Wigley a 40-year prison sentence, of which he must serve at least 25 years.

Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, with the help of Assistant District Attorney Liem Walker.

During the proceedings, Southerland presented evidence that the 7-week-old victim had suffered from a broken arm and leg. In total, the child had 22 broken bones, although most of these injuries occurred in another county.

After considering statements from both the defense and prosecution, Judge Terrett issued Wigley’s sentence. He is mandated to serve at least half of this sentence.

Last week, before the trial, they offered Wigley a plea deal of 30 years with 17 to serve. Wigley declined.

The victim, Wigley’s own son, is currently in foster care.
