WC defeated Yazoo County 59-45 on Saturday

Warren Central High School boys’ basketball team grabbed their first win of the season after defeating Yazoo County 59-45.

Gaylon Turner Jr. led the Vikings with 26 points and five assists. Anaias Thompson stepped up and grabbed five rebounds to go with his 10 points while Daniel Brown added eight on the board. Robert Williams had a good defensive game by snatching 10 rebounds and five blocks while he and Jonathan Henderson both put up six points in the win.

Nathaniel Moore ended the night with four points and WC will travel to play Northwest Rankin on Tuesday.

WC girls’ basketball:

The Lady Vikes fell short 49-19 to South Pike. Harmony Wright led WC with five points and 12 rebounds.
