WC freshman basketball team advances to semifinals after defeating Brandon 45-41

Warren Central High School ninth grade basketball team will now advance to the semifinals of the Little Six Tournament after defeating Brandon 45-41 on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs controlled the first quarter by taking the 12-7 lead before WC began getting to the basket in the second.

Chance Ward knocked down two big 3-pointers in the second quarter to keep the score tight. Decorey Knight, Jr. also hit a couple of key shots before halftime with WC trailing 27-24.

Coming out of halftime, WC put some tough defense on the Bulldogs.  Lamont Rogers got WC on the board a couple times, allowing them to take a 38-35 lead.

The Vikings continued to pressure Brandon in the fourth quarter and only allowed them to get six points.

Knight led the team with 12 points and Jaylin Winters pitched eight. Maddox Lynch contributed seven points for WC while Ward and Rogers each put up six and LJ Reynolds ended the night with five on the board.

The Freshman Vikings will now advance to play Rosa Scott (Madison Central) Thursday in the semifinals.
