Warren Central High School baseball player Kylan Landers has signed a scholarship to play for Hinds Community College next season.

Since the age of five, Landers found himself on the baseball field playing the sport he loves.

“This game is fun and relaxing but it also takes away a lot of stress from things like school,” Landers said.

Landers, who plays shortstop and pitcher, has helped the Vikings to the playoffs in each one of his varsity years under Head Coach Randy Broome.

“I love playing under Coach Broome,” Landers said. “He’s one of the best coaches I’ve had and he’s taught me a lot as a person and a player.”

Landers was selected as an All-District player for helping WC secure multiple victories over the years.  One of his most memorable games was throwing a five-inning shutout against Clinton during a district win in his sophomore year.

Although many programs had their eyes on Landers, he chose Hinds CC over places like Co-Lin, Holmes CC, Mississippi Delta CC, East Central and Pearl River CC.

“I chose Hinds because of their great program and ability to produce athletes and have a good academic program,” Landers said.

Landers has put in a lot of hard work over the years to gain this opportunity. He thanks those close to him for helping him achieve this goal.

“I especially want to thank Randy Wright, Jacob Brister, and Will Mabry for pushing me throughout all this time,” Landers said. “I also want to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates for everything they have done.”

Before heading off to play for the Eagles, Landers still has his senior season at WC to complete which will begin in the Spring.

Landers is the son of Kyle Landers (father), Lynn Landers (mother), and Dayna Landers (stepmother).
