WC’s McGivney to step down as head coach after the season

Published

Warren Central High School head softball coach Dana McGivney has announced that she will step down from her position at the end of the season.

McGivney, who has been the Lady Vikes’ head coach since 2006, will take a head coaching job at Oxford High School. She informed her team after last night’s game against Northwest Rankin.

McGivney led WC to multiple winning seasons including being 11-0 in 2020 before COVID-19 canceled the season. She was also selected as VDN’s 2022 Head Softball Coach of the Year.

McGivney’s job with the Lady Vikes is done yet as there is plenty of softballs left to play including the playoffs.

All three of McGivney’s senior player have signed collegiate scholarships to play on the next level.
