Vicksburg High School boy’s basketball took down Warren Central 81-56 on Saturday.

“We started of pretty slow but after halftime we came out and handled business,” Davian Williams said.

Markel Derby got things started for VHS with a quick shot followed by a dunk from Malik Franklin.  The Gators went up 11-0 before WC got a point as Davian Williams and Kealon Bass drained 3-pointers to put the Gators up 22-11 in the first quarter.

WC began making a comeback in the second quarter after Padre Gray Jr. and Gaylon Turner knocked down 3-pointers along with Lazaveon Sylvester who dropped six points in that quarter. VHS was able to hang on to the 38-31 halftime lead after Jaylin Jackson hit a couple of shots.

Coming out of halftime, Jonathan Henderson hit a 3-pointer along with Gray while Sylvester pitched in some layups and the Vikings eventually took a 47-46 lead with 1:20 left in the third quarter.

The Gators trailing wouldn’t last long as they hit seven 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and found themselves leading by over 20 points late in the game. Franklin hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and Williams hit two.

Williams led with 27 points and Franklin put up 26. Sylvester scored 16 for WC and Gray added 15. Turner finished with 12 and Henderson scored 11.

Bass also dropped 14 points and Jackson scored 10 for VHS.
