Strand honors National Stuttering Awareness Day with free showing of “My Beautiful Stutter”
Last updated:
The Strand Theatre in coalition with Jubilee Therapy, LLC and the Westside Theatre Foundation will be hosting “My Beautiful Stutter” premiere, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Strand Theatre (717 Clay St.).
The premiere is in honor of National Stuttering Awareness Day and will show a film following several people with a “beautiful”stutter.
The premiere is the brainchild of Ashton Ozark, and the Strand Theatre is hoping to bring something different to the community that will pique everyone’s interest.
“It’s a brand new film, a documentary that follows several people with a stutter,” said Daniel Boone, program director of the Strand Theatre, of “My Beautiful Stutter.”
“The idea of the movie is basically positive reinforcement that it is OK to have a stutter.”
The event is free and everyone is welcome. For more information contact Daniel Boone at 601-529-7252.
“[The Strand Theatre is] trying to just fulfill our mission of working with the community and bringing things downtown that are important to members of the community,” Boone said.
