At a news conference this morning, Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, one of the largest and oldest community health centers in the State of Mississippi, announced the expansion of its Vicksburg location.

The center plans to invest $1 million and create more than a dozen new jobs.

“With a mission to provide low cost, quality, family-based health care, and social services to people who may not otherwise have access to them, Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health is a true game-changer for those in need of affordable health care in Vicksburg,” said Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. in a statement “We should all be encouraged by Jackson-Hinds’ investment in Vicksburg. I commend their team of experts, talented staff and dedicated board of directors for their decision. Under this administration, Vicksburg residents have come to expect progress. Through partnerships like these, we’re delivering on that promise nearly every day.”

Dr. Jasmin Chapman, CEO of Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, is glad to see the project finally coming to fruition.

“We are so excited to be expanding in Vicksburg, Mississippi,” she said. “Mayor Flaggs has helped us with this endeavor every step of the way. Studies tell us that when citizens have access to affordable health care; education rates increase, crime rates decrease, and the economy of the surrounding community thrives. We are excited to see what positive outcomes we can inspire from expanding here in Vicksburg and Warren County.”

Pablo Diaz, President and CEO of the Vicksburg Warren Economic Development Partnership added, “Our community is excited to have Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center join our growing business community. Vicksburg and Warren County are home to a highly trained workforce in many industries including the health care sector. Jackson-Hinds’ investment in our community continues the positive economic development trend that we have seen in the past two years. Our Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Economic Development Pa1tnership, looks forward to supporting their growth in our region.”

Since 1970, Jackson- Hinds has been the leader in high-quality, affordable, primary and preventive services to Mississippi residents, serving over 49,000 patients at multiple sites in Hinds, Warren, and Copiah counties and provides a comprehensive continuum of health and social services.
