Warren County reports two new COVID-19 cases, statewide cases at 15,752

Monday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reports another two confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warren County. The cumulative number of cases in the county is 175. The county’s death toll of 10 includes seven residents of long-term care facilities. The county has 37 cases in one long-term facility under investigation.

Statewide, MSDH reports 251 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases in Mississippi to 15,752.

MSDH also reports five Mississippians died of COVID-19 statewide, bringing the number of deaths in the state to 739.

Deaths and new cases were reported as of 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31. MSDH reports new statistics on the COVID-19 coronavirus each morning based on the previous day’s testing and death reports.

MSDH has estimated the number of people who can be presumed recovered from COVID-19 in Mississippi. That number is 11,203 through Sunday, May 31. That figure represents about 71.1% of the cumulative 15,752 cases reported as of Monday, June 1. This figure will be updated weekly.

Based on the number of cases reported Monday, May 11, in Warren County (117), the estimated number of people presumed recovered is 107, with 68 active cases.

These estimates are based on MSDH’s guidelines for calculating estimated recoveries when hospitalizations are not known, using the number of cases 21 days ago, less known outcomes (deaths).

As of Monday, 418 Mississippians were hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and another 166 patients are hospitalized with suspected infections. Of those hospitalized with confirmed infections, 146 are critically ill and in intensive care units and 97 are on ventilators.
