Vicksburg native Joncherricca Jones had a swearing in ceremony on Thursday to represent her becoming a lawyer.

Jones, a 2009 graduate of Warren Central High School, graduated from Delta State University in 2013 before heading off to North Carolina Central University School of Law where she graduated in May 2020.

Jones’ first swearing in was held virtually so she came back home to Mississippi to have a in person ceremony where Judge Toni Terrett did the honors of swearing Jones in.

Jones is now legally licensed in the state of Texas to practice law and has plans to soon take the Mississippi Bar. She has a special interest in business corporate law and plans to have her own firm within the next five years.

Through hard work and dedication, Jones successfully finished what she started and can now continue to pursue her dreams.

“I want to especially thank my mom, Latanya Gathrite, and my godmother Shirley Reed along with the rest of my family and friends who stuck with me through this journey,” Jones said.

As Jones now begins her career in law, Vicksburg Daily News wishes her the best in all of her upcoming success.
