Warren County looking to appoint Justice Court Judge to fill remaining term

Following the resignation of Edwin Woods Jr., the Warren County Board of Supervisors will appoint a Justice Court Judge to fill the remaining of the term which ends in November.

Before his resignation, Woods represented the Northern District and won his last term in 2019. There are two other Justice Court Judges; Jeff Crevitt who represents the Southern District and James Jefferson who represents the Central District.

Cases heard in Justice Court consist of misdemeanors, felony preliminaries, marriage ceremonies, citations from law enforcement and civil actions under $2,500.

Requirements for the position are:

  • A high school diploma
  • A resident of Warren County
  • Completion of a course of training required by law within six months of the beginning of the term of office.
