VICKSBURG, Miss. (Vicksburg Daily News) – As the Southwestern Athletics Conference Media Day premiered this week, it didn’t take long for the 2021 preseason prediction polls to be announced – pertaining to some local teams.

Alcorn State University (128) football team was heavily predicted to win in the west, over teams such as Southern (108) and Grambling (85).

Forfeiting the 2020 season didn’t slow the Braves down in polls, as the conference predicts that they will face Alabama A&M (122) in the SWAC Championship.

Jackson State (80) was predicted to finish third in the east behind Alabama A&M and Florida A&M (109) while Mississippi Valley State University was chosen to finish last in the east.

SWAC football season will jump off in late August, giving a chance for the teams to live up to their predictions. The season will also bring an opportunity for other universities to prove they have what it takes to succeed.
