Butler receives $500,000 bond in Johnson murder
Talisha Butler appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Thursday, July 16, for her initial court appearance. Butler was represented by attorney Mike Bonner.
Carpenter set Butler’s bond at $500,000, and bound her over to the Warren County grand jury for further court proceedings.
Butler, 35, has been charged with 1st degree murder in the death of Christopher Johnson, 37, of Vicksburg.
Butler and Johnson had an altercation in the parking lot behind Boston Fish Supreme on Wednesday, July 15, that ended in tragedy. Police say that she shot Johnson in the chest, and he died on the scene.
Butler hung her head as she was led to the courtroom and was tearful during the proceedings. It was clear that the Butler and Johnson families are closely connected, as the defendant’s mother arrived with the mother of the victim.
In an interview, Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore stated that Butler called 911 to report that she had shot Johnson shortly after the incident occurred.
