Teenager detained in church vandalism case; congregation thankful for community support
A 13-year-old has been detained for vandalism of the Mount Alban MB Church that occurred July 12 and 13.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace says interviews are still taking place on the incidents and additional arrests are possible.
Church member Pam Durman says this gives church members some hope that this is an isolated incident.
“We have literally been in tears over this, but the outpouring of support from the community has kept us in tears as well,” she said Thursday.
The church was vandalized Sunday night and again Monday night. Numerous windows were broken in both incidents. Church leaders made the decision to board up the windows and doors as a precaution to protect the church, which is more than 100 years old, and the multipurpose building under construction.
The church has called a special board meeting for next weekend to discuss the way forward.
If you would like to make a donation in support of the church, you can do so at any area Trustmark Bank location. Please tell them Mount Alban MB Church, special account.
