Carroll leaving Vicksburg for City of Jackson post

Friday, the City of Jackson announced that John Carroll Sr. has been appointed chief deputy city clerk.

Carroll comes to the position from the City of Vicksburg where he held a similar position as assistant city clerk. Carroll had previously been city clerk in Canton, Mississippi.

Carroll attended Los Angeles City College, Jackson State University’s Institute of Government Public Management and Leadership Program and the Governmental Training and Technology Program through Mississippi State University Extension Service. He is a certified municipal clerk and tax collector and is a certified National Business Bureau of Licensing officer.

In 2017, Carroll ran unsuccessfully for the North Ward Alderman post in Vicksburg.
