At the end of 2010; The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame also honored two other New Orleans based artists who are very well known in the circle of Rock And Roll Artists.  Both men had a profound effect on how music sounds today. Those men are none other than Antoine “Fats” Domino and Dave Bartholomew.  Arguably the very first Rock And Roll song ever produced was entitled “The Fat Man” written by Dave and Fats. The song was a re-tooling of the old song “The Junker’s Blues”. Another famous New Orleans artist Allen Toussaint has been quoted as saying the birth of Rock and Roll was formed from Rhythm and Blues that got together and had two children, Rock and Roll.  Fats Domino was inducted into the hall of fame in 1986 and Dave Bartholomew was inducted in 1992.  I spoke with Fats shortly before the ceremony and he was grateful to the Hall of Fame for honoring him and Dave. Not much for traveling these days Fats stayed at home and watched the ceremony while Dave and former saxophonist and band member Herbert Hardesty attended. Fats recently turned 83 and is enjoying life in New Orleans and plans to stay there. His latest album released in 2006 “Alive and Kicking” is available through The Tipitinas Foundation and all proceeds are being donated to help put instruments in the hands of New Orleans school children and frequently holds workshops to teach them how to play. There is a video of his last concert at Tipitinas in New Orleans and the CD are both available through the Tips Foundation Video Courtesy of WWL-TV New Orleans]]]]> ]]>
