Fire at the Aoelian Apartments cause residents to evacuate

Just after 1:00 p.m., a call came through indicating that there were smoke and flames at the Aoelian Senior Apartments.

Numerous units with the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the scene and the first unit reported heavy smoke. They eventually reported that the building was evacuated and the fire was out.

The fire was due to someone cooking and burned the food on top of the stove which caused the smoke and flames.

No injuries we were reported and the residents will be able to return inside the building soon.
